Bolt on rear suspension broke

Hi all, my oh went over a large pothole today and the impact has broke a bolt on the rear n/s part of the car, which I can only presume is the bottom bolt mounting for the shock absorber, a mechanic put it on the ramps and had a quick look and said it's taken out the drive shaft gaiter as well, can anyone help on this? The problem I have is that the car's in Burford near Tenbury Wells, which is about 35 miles from where I live, and it's not driveable. Does anyone know someone in that area who would be able to either repair it or bring the car back home for me?

Ouch ! Tis the season of pot holes ! Sorry Jelly can't help you as I'm a Yorkshire lad . Hope you get it recovered and sorted soon . Try and have good Christmas .

the most likely on the rear suspension is one of the drop links -these in a way are meant to be sacrificial so as to avoid more serious damage

Any chance you could get a bolt, jack the car a bit and get it back in? Even a temporary bolt would do for a slow journey home. The gator shouldn't matter for a quick trip.

The lower shock bolts are a known weak point as they are ageing and under quite a bit of stress.

Hi Mike, thanks for that, trying to get some info. together, it's a bit difficult because I haven't seen it myself yet.

not really sure at this stage, only got what oh told me to go on and the mechanic who only had a very quick look at it, could really do with having a look myself

Have had a glance at the car now, it is the ns shock absorber bottom bolt that has snapped off, ordered another one

Thought it would be that one. There is a bit of tolerance in the fit and they wear and get brittle. Glad it's something simple at least.
