It's just a push through bolt so take a long skinny bolt and a hammer/mallet, then bash it back through.

You'll need to Jack the car up to drop the wheel/suspension so you can get the new one in. You might need to push down on the wheel (or hub if you remove the wheel) to line up the holes.

Good luck!

Bugger, doesn't it come as nut and bolt combo?

There are two types as well. The original and an 'updated' version from the Chinese cars. Not sure which is best to be honest.

Just an update on this just got off the phone to rimmers and they confirmed the TF doesn't have a nut on the rear shock absorber bottom mounting.

Oh yea they bolt into the arm itself. I should have remembered that seeing as I changed mine for Bilsteins.

DOH 😜

If the bolt snapped right where it bolts in to the top arm you might not be able to get the broken bit out very easily. It could be a replacement top arm as well.

Hopefully it has snapped with a bit sticking out to get hold of. 🤞

Yes that's what I was thinking this is going to be an expensive bolt think it is going to be a recovery truck job :( trouble is the time of year and need this car at the moment :( and think the other halve might be losing confidence in it too :-?

That bolt is known weakness, and if you think it gets a lot of stress over its life.

The to arms are not expensive even if you need one. It's just fitting it, which again isn't that difficult. It's one long bolt at the subframe end, and the to ball joint nut. Not much else.

It's a pity it happened at this time of year as it makes it less pleasant to do.

When I replaced my shock absorbers a couple of years ago, I remember looking into the Chinese bolts and the OEM Rover ones, I think I ended up fitting the standard OEM bolt, but what I did do was to put a nut on the protruding thread of the bolt after it was tightened up. This locked nutted the bolt to the suspension arm and mainly it was to help keep the thread of the bolt protected so if I wanted to remove the bolt in the future, the thread should be nice and clean and healthy once I took the nut off again.
