My brake pipe clips arrived today from Rimmers, so I managed to finish off clipping the pipes up, put a couple of extra ones in to help keep the brake pipes nice and uniform and to prevent then vibrating. Then I could put the trim cover back in place and the spare wheel in.
Really happy with the result...

Gave painting it a shot. Shouldn't get too badly scratched up as the spare wheel's come out permanently now. Large (55kg) battery box will get bolted into place after I get it assembled.

Looks much better than my spare wheel well.

How are you getting around the lack of engine vacuum when you don't have an ICE to suck?

I am working on an alternative solution but I won't share until it works.

A small 12v electric vacuum pump that's powered when the ignition's on :) Simple solution really.

I'm intrigued! What have you spotted there, TC? The only ICE I know is In Car Entertainment (AKA the radio!). What's been disconnected?

:-?

I'm working on a total electric conversion of my TF - Will be replacing the engine with a motor & pile of batteries (some in the spare wheel well, repainted thanks to inspiration from Sundance.

ICE - Internal Combustion Engine :)

Immo,
Should be a most enthralling project, I will watch with interest...
Found this with a Google search so it seems like it could be a runner!

The project you linked is largely what I'm basing it off :) That and one done by a chap called Neil a bit closer to home (http://www.evalbum.com/3250)...

I've had some conversations with the aussie guy who's swapped his MGF over (on instagram of all places...) to share ideas about how to do it etc. Looking forward to getting more stuff done on this project - though lack of funds & the Coronavirus have slowed me down this year.

Quality link Immo, I have used Siemens 3 phase inverters many times at work, mainly Sinamics and Micromaster, but have used a couple of Simovert controllers too, along with some of the older DC drives such as Simoreg and Simodrives.

The new AC motors should be virtually maintenance free, older EV's used to use DC shunt motors with a phenomenal amount of torque.
I have seen many a DC motor with a drive shaft snapped because of the forces they can generate.
The good thing with modern day inverters is that you can just plug a lappy in and change the characteristics of the drive to suit, bit like a remap!

Keep us updated matey!

While what you've said is completely true - the inverter I'm planning to get for this project is nearly 20 years old & therefore its configuration software is only avaliable in MS-DOS...

Future updates will be posted in my own project thread - I'm quite sorry for hijacking yours as much as I have here...

HI All

I am extremely interested in electric onversion. Is it possible to copy all electric information to a new thread, which can be added to as the knowledge expands
