Hi all,
Has any one fitted LEXUS style rear lights in the Smoky effect rather than the usual Chrome effect.?

Do they look ok against the front light fittings?

thanks

This may be a silly question but why are you comparing front and rear lights?

The Front lights on a TF have a dark surround ( the MGF dosnt have ) , if I choose smoky rear LEXUS lights will they look ok compared to the front light fittings , if you see what I mean

My immediate thought was perhaps planning to wrap the car around a pole! :omg: :bust:

I had a pair on my TF. The lense is slightly tinted, but the plastics behind are black. Its enough to look dark smoked, without restricting any significant light.

I think smoked rear lights only look good on dark cars, such as black, and possibly red cars.!

Still got them, must list them for sale sometime when lockdown comes to an end.

Also have 2 or three sets of 3 ring lexus style (with the bubles over the lights). Was going to convert them to smoked, but now my TF has gone, so just sitting in the garage.

Found this picture of the tinted lights

I love my tinted 3 ring rears....I actually had a chance to buy the quads seen on the car to the right of mine in the photo, however I was slow on the uptake and Steve Carlin, who owns the car beat me to it! Still not convinced on the quads now!

If you do buy the 3 ring Lexus lights, remember to seal around them or you will soon get a boot full of water. I used black silicone and some careful masking up. Mine are currently unsealed after removing them to re-tint them as I am waiting for lockdown to ease so I can get some paintwork touched up around the car, including close to the rear lights. You would also be advised to fit rear light covers inside the boot.

Don't you get those foamy seals to stop the water. Took mine off the originals when changed over
