There are 2 types of speedo. Early F's had a mechanical cable drive from gearbox. Later F and TF had a speed transducer in the same place as the mechanical drive on top of the gearbox connected by signal wire to speedo.
Access in via boot. Remove engine protection grill and reach down from the middle and it unscrews from top of gearbox.
Cheers

Usually means the speedo cable has been disconnected at one time or other.
Sometimes, preloading the cable by twisting the outer sheath around a few times before reconnecting it to the speedo stops the jittery needle.

Sometimes it's a kinked cable......check that it's routed properly.
If it's kinked bad......replace.
