Greetings

Plenty of posts on soft top maintenance products, but I have heard some, e.g. Renovo, can discolour red rooves.  Anyone with a red roof with some tips?  I just want to keep it waterproof and protected from UV...

Cheers
Perry

Here's some news for all MGf and Tf owners.

You don't need to waterproof the soft top! The soft top is triple layered sandwich, with an impermeable membrane in the sandwich. The top layer's designed to soak up rain and wick it away from the doors to reduce drippage!
By waterproofing the top layer you just ensure that the water will run straight off onto you when the door or window is open.

So presuming the material isn't punctured, all should be well.

Maintenance should be a good scrub and hose down.

I learned all this in a long conversation with a professional soft top roof supplier.

Having said all that,  if you insist on waterproofing the outer layer don't use renovo on a red roof, it'll end up nearer brown.

If it has faded you could try a  red cotton dye...

I have been known to vacuum my hood but having left it for a couple of years I decided to jet wash it when I had the karcher out recently. It came up much cleaner than beforehand and had the added advantage that it tightened the fabric up nicely.
