TF emergency bonnet release
Hi
I'm thinking of fitting an emergency bonnet release on my TF the details of which have been posted some years ago. I think you can access the catch by removing the radiator cover- 7 x 10mm bolts and 5 x crosshead screws on top of the bumper. Would doing it this way mean that the bonnet catch needs adjusting when finished or is it just unbolt, do job and bolt up?
Cheers
Jon

If you undo the bolts and screws you list you will release the slam panel.
If you fit it back exactly where it was it shouldn't need adjusting.
If you need to undo and redo the latch bolts don't over tighten the bolts as too tight and it won't work, IIRC they are 15 NM.

As a slight aside, I fitted an electric bonnet release as a primary system. I shortened the cable for the manual release and it's hidden in the cabin as the backup system.
It wasn't too difficult to fit the electric release, ( just an electric boot popper). The only modification was to replace the original catch spring with a slightly lighter one. The electric release is operated through a visible but disguised switch and a second hidden switch.
I've had this fitted for a couple of years without issue.
