Can anyone help. Years ago I saw a boot attachment for luggage, not a boot rack, this was a large soft bag that was held on by straps, anyone know were you can find one and what are they called.

As long as you have a waterproof bag, you could achieve the same with a couple or three ratchet straps and some rubber roofing membrane.

I have a proper boot rack, it's removable (not that I bother)
When I need extra luggage space, I put the spare tyre on the boot rack (who cares if the spare gets wet and it's less attractive to thieves) and my luggage in the spare tyre well.

Is it an urban myth that the cars handling is tuned around having the spare present in the front compartment?I have a proper boot rack, it's removable (not that I bother)

Sounds like a load of bollocks to me! The spare isn't all that heavy
Mind you I only ever have it on the rack when I've got stuff in it's place up front.
