Hi All .... What oil pressure should we expect on a 2004 TF. My oil pressure is usually somewhere between 60 and 150, driving speeds 50/60.
Cheers all ..... harlingpeter

Just checking but a standard setup doesn't have an oil pressure gauge. It has an oil temperature gauge. Sure you're not reading that?

Sorry David. Yes, I do mean the oil temperature gauge, and Checking my gauge again my reading is between 60/120, not 150 as I posted earlier! I was wondering if this was OK or should I expect a reading nearer 60?........Peter

The oil temperature gauge, for all intents and purposes..... is as handy as a spare dick at a wedding!
Don't get hung up on the indicated numbers, it's not a calibrated instrument, at least it won't be in calibration after all this time.
like most gauges it's best used as a comparitor, you use it by taking note of where the needle usually points under normal circumstances and only worry if it is suddenly pointing somewhere else

I actually investigated the accuracy of my temp gauge by using a infra red heat sensor on the sump.
Suffice it to say that the only accuracy was that the gauge moved up and down with the temperature of the oil in the sump! :bust:
The gauge was over-reading by a huge amount. So as Cobber says, just note where your gauge points under normal circumstances and worry if it suddenly points elsewhere, lol.
As a matter of interest, I introduced resistors into the signal feed from the oem sensor until the gauge read correctly. I can't remember what rating it was, though.

If I am going up a mountain at 30mph, oil temp can easily hit 100. It is about load, not speed and probably ambient temperature.
