MGF 1998 noisy suspension
Hello, we just purchased a 1998 MGF. The car has had the spring conversion (Australian setup) a couple of years ago and has an annoying squeal rusty spring kind from the rear passenger side when going over bumps and jumping up and down on the car. A local expert suggested a faulty GAZ shock, but did not see the car, just looked at the video of it. I am going to remove the shock to see if it makes a difference. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Hi! Try greasing your nipples! All 4.
There's a grease nipple on each lower arm of the suspension.

If that is a damper it's about the worst I've heard, I'd say it's more like a bush, but first grease those nipples!

Hello, thank you for your reply. I had done the greasing of the nipples, but made no difference. I will look at the bushes now. Thanks again

I had the left rear knuckle joint and upper arm replaced as the nylon bushing in the joint was damaged and not sitting right. All good now.
Just got an interesting book by Roger Parker “Everyday modifications for your MGF and TF” and on page 83 he talks about this specific issue. The book is accessible online.
Now the Aircon Evaporator needs replacing and I’ll be right ………
thank you

I had the evaporator replaced, along with dryer and tri-switch. A bit expensive, but I am sure it is not an easy job. All good now.
