rev limit, tf160
Hi, I'm sure plenty has been written in the past but I couldn't find the answer to my problem so here goes......When my engine is warm to hot, i.e within 5km from starting it will rev cleanly to 7200rpm, once the engine reaches working temperature, the rev limit reduces to 5700rpm, probably the opposite of what it should do! Whilst I don't do this too often, its nice to have the option.....Any thoughts?

Are the VVC mechanism electric plugs the correct way around?

That does not look like a mems3 engine, where the coilpacks are on top of the plugs.
That appears to be a mems 2 j engine with the coilpacks on the firewall.
If that is the case you have the black and brown plugs the wrong way around... Unless it's a mems3 wiring harness.
Swap them and test your rev limit again.
I don't know why you have a mems2j engine in a 160 though, has it been replaced?

Hi, my coils are on top of the plugs, pretty sure it's a mems3, original engine

Ah, OK.
That's not your engine in the photo, that makes sense now...
Check out my new post on the vvc issue for further info.
That photo has the plugs mixed up. The owner has fallen into the clever trap that MG created,:woowoo:

Thanks for the advice, I think the vvc timing is correct as it will, on occasion hit the magical 7200. Will try to locate a cam sensor, stuff like this generally very difficult to find here in South Africa.
