What only one humbug & for a noisy sheep. With the number of sheep in Aus I’d have thought you’d have bought them in bulk.

Obviously your Jolly Swagman had more than a passing interest in Matilda, can I assume that waltzing is a euphemism for horizontal jogging under a coolibah. It’s to be hoped that his tuckerbag has enough room, in addition to the water slaked jumbuck, for antibiotics, creams, lotions & possibly surgical dressings.
I’ve no doubt you’ll be glad to get Christmas Day’s behind you & have more than an energetic eye on the new year. My wife & I are church wardens so I guess we’re poles apart yet linked by a our interests. Watch what you’re doing you wouldn’t want three troupers after you. Mike.

Only 3 troopers? I used to have a damned side more than that with a greater than passing interest in my activities!
They could never get me in the bag though…..always a few steps ahead of them
I was a bit of a wild scallywag in my younger days, never out to hurt anyone or do real harm, but definitely a complete ratbag.
Loud, brash, never afraid of anything or anyone and always spoke my mind. Not always the most popular combination but I didn’t care what others thought.

As for the church warden business….you don’t seem a bad sorta bloke, so I won’t hold it against you……each to their own.
How about we do a deal, I won’t try to corrupt you and you don’t try to save me, can’t say fairer than that! :bust:

That my friend is a deal that could not sensibly be refuse.
I always thought Banjo Paterson was a bit light on troupers, maybe Dagworth Station wasn’t as bad a place as some.
When one consider that the mother country siphoned it ne’er do wells out of our prisons & presented them to Australia, you might consider a one to one ratio of ex con’s to troupers might be required. However if you consider that most were sent down for stealing a bun or a length of silk, the myth of the criminal Australian looks a little shabby.
Mind you - - - - - - - if the cap fits, - - - - especially if it green & gold & has Ricky Ponting under it.

The funny thing is that you brought up the subject of Waltzing Matilda, not knowing that I’m related to the family that owned Dagworth Station. The daughter of which Cristina McPerson who put the music to the poem……small world!

You never forget those things that you have no need to know, important things seem to wash in & out.
Goodness knows how I picked up those jewels other than a interest in English folk music & how it morphed as it traveled abroad. Eric Bogel & Martin Windham Read carry the flag & having experienced the Bushwackers & Bullockers Band no one could deny the vibrancy or the racket Australian music can contribute.

I'm glad about that. Australian Mad Bastard tally +1, all the best for the new year, you kick it off for the rest of us plus you've a better framework for the fireworks. Mind you it was built by Dorman Long, with a lot preformed in the UK.
