The sensor is in 3 parts.

The top part in photo is the gear mesh into the gearbox top held in by a bolt through the tab.

The middle part is the actual transducer and screws into the gear mesh assembly

The third , bottom, part is the electric plug. (This is normally the problem, corroded pins giving poor pulse signal to speedometer and EPAS.)

If you have undone the bolt spray , some penetrating fluid around the base , then pull and wiggle should work.

Cheers, and good luck, Mark

Hi Mark
Thank you for your reply really appreciate it, so to clarify the whole lot has to come out to change the sensor?
Many thanks

No, all bits can be separated. You said you could not get a spanner on the sensor itself, so next move is to undo the bolt which you have already done and pull the whole thing out. Once the bolt is out it is only an O-ring and age holding it into the gearbox, then you can get a spanner onto the sensor.

If you can get a spanner / crows foot on the sensor then that will unscrew from the gear assembly.

Thanks Mark a very clear and concise response, I now know that's its just a normal speedo drive with a transducer on it, now just need to find out WTF is a transducer, is it a "woke" term?

Hi deepfat
Quick google search reveals this.
A transducer is an electronic device that converts energy from one form to another. Common examples include microphones, loudspeakers, thermometers, position and pressure sensors, and antenna.

Transduckter, used to be a duck but could be anything now.

This transducer is extremely cheap and easy way to covert a rotation into a pulse using Hall Effect. Basically a bit of metal wizzing past a magnet. Also used in electronic distributors to replace points system. Much cheaper than a 3 part speedo cable, and a wire is much easier to route.

A cross dressing duck perhaps? Or a cross dresser who does inappropriate things to ducks?
