I’m going to try & put up a video of the finished job & if there are additional takers I’ll do it on the main pages.
It won’t be a how to, it’ll be a resume of how I approached the job, if you elect to use any of the ideas you are sailing on your own, I’m not coming along as crew.
Now let’s see if I can master the next step!

Phones are a pain it the arse to do much on the internet with, as every bloody thing is in a different place and on some sites some of the features are just missing.
Better to use a real computer to do anything technical.

Press the digital button & flash of any number of images to choose the best isn’t in the same league as a well constructed optical shot. Hence the taking of a photograph has become devalued when everyone carries a very capable camera
I’ll dig out my digital dodah & use that from now on.

I fitted Rover 45 steering wheel controls from a Connoisseur that had stereo controls and cruise controls. I had the audio side wired through an adaptor to my Kenwood head unit and the cruise control side to my cruise control ECU.
I have more recently upgraded my steering wheel to a horribly expensive one for a classic mini and haven't had the courage to fit them it, yet.

The adapter for your Kenwood; does it take the resistance change from the Rover controls & directly converter those valves into information understood by the head unit or did you have to modify the internal board.
I’m liaising with a chap who is doing what you seem to have done & as I’ve only fitted the audio controls, information on the cruise system would help him & possibly me in future.
Thanks. Mike

The wheel mounted switches worked well, being able switch back to any one of those songs & to be able to play loud those that deserved just by flexing a finger & without taking your eyes off the road.
But that was it, up, down, next & back, I needed another two for mute & off. Whilst looking through the electronics parts section on eBay I found self adhesive tactile switches; cheap, easy to use & adaptable. I’ve not finalised the workings yet but initial test are positive.
