Coolant sensor confusion.
So I have a temp guage that does nothing and the same for the oil temp guage.
The two coolant sensors (from what i can see) have the same thread and electrical plug size.
everyone keeps mentioning the colours but that's useless to me as everything is black.
One goes in vertical and one horizontal.
Please can someone clarify the part nunber for the vertical one and the part number for the horizontal one?
ive just fitted part number - MEK100061 and id like to know if its in the correct hole
It's a 1.8 vvc 1997
thank you

I dont know a lot about the 97 VVC spec but does your engine have the 2 seperate water temp senders, one for the guage and one for the ECU, like the later cars ?
Oil temp guage always seems a waste of time. Mine hardly moves on either of the TFs Ive had and now I no longer look at it.

It appears so.
Not sure if they screw in to the same void space in the engine? It looks like they do. If so I guess the orientation doesn't matter much???
I can't find a clear diagram and rimmer brothers have he confused now

Sensors are the same for all k-series engines. MEK100061 is the same as MEK100060.
ECU sensor (horizontal one):
MEK100060 - Sensor (Brown) - up to VIN 471564
MEK100170 - Sensor (Black) - from VIN 471565. This was superseded/replaced by MEK000030 - sensor (Black)
Coolant temperature gauge sensor (vertical one):
YCB100370 - Sensor (Black) - Coolant Temperature - Gauge - up to VIN 471564. This was superseded/replaced by YCB100420 sensor (Blue)
YCB100420 - Sensor (Blue) - Coolant Temperature - Gauge - from VIN 471565

Thank you thank you.
I was going nuts not being able to find out.
I've obviously put the wrong one in the wrong hole (oi oi 😜). So I'll swap this over this evening.
thank you again

Next is to get the horn working so I can book the MOT. I'm doing lots of research as it appears there are a number of causes for the horn to not work.
I also have ugly sealant around the rear lights which I need to remove.
