Hi

Have a lotus elise s1 with 5AS and a cobra alarm.

For this to work, the 5AS module must be set to infinity /disable the passive immobiliser

This can be done using the Rover test tool but have Pscan this feature as well ?

Of cause this only can be done if 5AS module is disarmed by a working transmitter.

Many thanks for the quick response.

Is this feature something that could be considered added to Pscan in the future.

Have several indications that this feature could be valuable to Lotus Elise S1 (and Rover K) customers. As this will give access to replace the 5AS module when factory installed Cobra Alarm.

Rover Testbook T4 is becoming very hard to find and especially people who can use this equipment.

I think that configuration of 5AS is a pscan feature long overdue. Like everything else I need time to look at it. I don't know if a Lotus 5AS is actually the same as a Rover one, in other words I don't know whether it's different hardware or the same hardware with different configuration. A definitive answer would be useful if someone wants to the research.

I believe the 5AS module is identical for the MGF and Lotus Elise S1.

Have done a couple of checks on some Lotus Elise 5AS spare modules.
It says Lucas (A) and YWC105330, next to this is a LOTUS sticker with part no. B111M0074K. This is a 433 Hz system.
Be aware that there are many variants of this, all of which have different letters A – L (mainly remote update and 315 Hz system)

Have also spoken with a LOTUS S1 specialist who has confirmed this assumption.

He wrote.
As far as I know there are some slight variations/revisions of the 5AS even on various Rover models (mostly hardware though), but the Elise version is not 'special' in any case. Lotus bought the complete engine/gearbox+ECU+5AS+engine-wiring from Rover and did not modify them in any way.

You can use the normal Rover test-book to do all the functions that are possible on the MEMS and 5AS on the S1.

I would expect any additional Pscan functions to work on S1 Elise exactly like they would on an MGF.

Looking forward to this function hopefully also being included in the Pscan equipment

It would be a great addition to the pscan if it could disarm the 5AS unit.

I agree…..Especially if it could dispense with the parasitic power drain it exerts on the battery, I for one see now great effort in using the key to unlock the bloody door, which is about the only tangible thing that the system offers, like all alarms it is more trouble than it’s worth and as a immobiliser it is quite unnecessary and superfluous to requirements as the cars are quite capable of immobilising themselves without any help from the 5AS!

Maybe folks should look at a Simtek 5AS emulator? Search on YouTube for pscan simtek; there's a couple of videos. Or maybe I'm misunderstanding something about how the Elise system works.

As far as I know you do know correctly how it works. Maybe you should speak with technozen for confirmation once again.

Not really.
I understand that there are two different systems.
One of them has a Cobra alarm system and uses Cobra fobs and not Lucas ones, and the 5AS is in a different state apparently. I don't know how the Cobra alarm immobilises the car.
The other system doesn't have a Cobra alarm; does that use a pure Rover configuration with Lucas fobs?

Correct

As standard setup, the Elise use the Rover MGF setup.

On top of this, (and most Elise S1) has an additional Cobra alarm installed. When this is the case, the Rover alarm system = 5AS has to but in to af non automatic alarming state.

Se my mail.
