How about before the Christmas do? Then I could recuperate in the fitness centre hot tub.

Thank you Clive for an excellent "how to", it is a job I have got on the list and I bought the MS Kit ages ago. There is very little wear on the top hinge on the drivers door on my F and no wear on the passenger door :woohoo: Your guide is far better than the MS instructions :yesnod:

Got a full set from Mike Satur for both doors, all stainless including new pins.
Worked well on the driver's door, but at the passenger door one of the three 13mm bolts at the inner part of the hinge did not move anyway.
So I had to try to remove the old pin in situ, using some extensions from my toolbox together with a 500g mallet. And this was also the way to hammer the new pin in place. It works!

I have never attempted this job but looking at what's involved I had a couple of thoughts:
How much force is needed to remove and then replace the pins? could something like a sturdy G clamp (push old out/new in) be adapted to replace the hammer, normally in my case hammer + bodywork = paint shop.
Secondly I presume the bushes could be pulled into place using suitably sized nuts and bolts Y/N
I have taken doors/hinges off of other cars in the past and always prefer to leave hinges attached to one or the other I think it makes alignment easier because you know one is in the right place.
If such a tool could be fabricated it is unlikely to be used that often by one person so perhaps it could be passed around?

A Gee clamp could work. Put a small socket above the pin to keep the clamp above the top of the pin and wind.
Mike Satur does an upgraded pin.
