I am one of the test users and have been happily using the kit all summer season (my car sleeps inside in winter).
Good kit. Clear instructions.

Fair question!

On a PC (don't know about a mobile). Either:

Click on the name of the person you want to message and you'll be taken to a profile page of the user. There you will see an envelope icon with the tip "Start a conversation". Click on that envelope. Or...
At the top of the page, you will see a speech bubble. Click on that to go to the conversations (messages) page. Click compose. In the Recipients box, start typing the username of the person you want to contact.

Continue from there to send your message
