Hi there,
I’m selling my Freestyle, currently listed on PistonHeads classified. It’s a great car that needs some TLC, welding or replacing the front wings and sills will give you a car close to concourse quality. Really enjoyed it from late summer through the winter, especially with the hardtop!
If you need more information or photos just ask. I’m in Birmingham.
I am open to offers and have it advertised at £1799.

It could be useful to post some photos and more information here. People dont tend to follow links
What is your key selling point, bearing in mind you are amongst seasonned MGF / TF owners here. Mentioning welding an concours in the same sentence is interesting.

Seeing all that rust makes me appreciate how difficult for you people can be to keep classic cars in good condition

I think it has the makings of a good car but it needs front wings and both front sill ends perhaps replaced with repair panels. Then pinting so that adds quite a lump on top of the price.
What about mechanicals? Hgskt, timing belt, water pump etc.
I'm not here to knock it but it may be overpriced. I say that because I paid £2200 for my 2002 TF and it is absolutely rust free everywhere. I mean zero rust. 34k and immaculate paintwork with a full service history up until 2020. New discs and pads all round, head gskt, cam belt and water pump done.
I'M not saying "look at me"..I'm just saying that you do need to spend money on that car and pointing out that there are a lot out there in that price range.
Good luck with the sale, with some work someone will get a good car.

Are you any good at forming sheet steel and welding? If so you'll be able to put all that right again, to my mind it looks worse than it may actually be. Good luck. Glyn.

Used front wings are pretty cheap and only take 45 mins a side to change, one to consider if you want to get failrly strong money for it. As perception is everything and it's a buyers market.
One of mine had a poorly repaired dent in one of the front wings and when the penny dropped how cheap 2nd hand wings were I sourced a good 2nd hand one from 'Bitz in the right colour which saved the hassle trying to repair in situ, matching the paint etc. Whilst the wing is off you should be able to tidy up the edge of the sill.
Not being negative but youve landed in a place where several of us have bought cheap to restore so we know what we are looking at.
Though values are gradually going up slowly at last it's only the very tidy ones that are attracting buyers as there are a lot out there to choose from. At present yours falls more into the 'would suit enthusiast' bracket for condition but not price. To maximise your return it would be best to spend £ 100 and some time on it to get it tidy and ready for sale, otherwise you'll end up dropping the price to be attractive to someone who is looking for a cheap one to restore and sees more than skin deep.
