Engine Bay Fan
Got the motor out and it is very seized. The fan was rotating on the motor shaft as I had forced it thinking I was spinning the armature.
Maybe what I have done below will help someone.
This is how I got it out.
Gained access as in the pictures.
Removed the 12v plug. It is one with the metal clip that needs to be pushed in.
Then uncoupled the fan from the motor shaft thru the engine vent. 2 cir-clips and a washer are in the center of the fan to remove. Only dropped 2 of those even being careful. Used a flexible magnet to retrieve them. Then spent 20 mins wriggling the fan off the shaft.
Then I undone the 2 8mm bolts one above and one below the motor.
The motor is then easily removed. I took the fan out as well by pushing and twisting until it was below the alternator then it fell out onto the floor. To take the full frame of the fan out would be very difficult I think but may be possible if the alternator was removed and maybe it would help to remove the cover inside the wheel arch.

The connector on the green cable is to allow easy removal of the cover grill

Maybe if you drove a lot in city traffic with the summer heat they would be necessary around here. Have made a mental note. Thanks.

But the amount of heat in the engine bay on hot days in traffic, seems to be a bit much to me, continued exposure to such heat cant be good for the longevity of hoses, wiring insulation, plastic and electrical components.
I don't know how much cooler it is, but a hell of a lot of heat is pumped out by them.
I should really do some before and after temp comparison tests.
If and when I can be arsed to do so.

Having a very hot summer and the engine bay fan has been going a lot. Made me think that Cobbers idea is ideal for hotter places so I have installed the 2 quad bike fans as in the pics. Left enough cable so I can lift the grill and put it in the boot or I can unplug it and remove it completely. The 2 quad bike fans are connected to the engine bay fan circuit.

Heaps more pumps out of mine, I haven't bothered to try and quantify out how much cooler it keeps things in the engine bay but it must be better.

I'd just like to to use high efficiency modern design thermo fans all over if possible.
Ive had no overheating issues but you never can be too careful, especially with our temps at present.
Thanks for any advice.
