Posted 13 years 5 months ago #24804Good vid though
where is the bit about working through a man hole cover, and all the engine bolts being stuck solid so you have to remove the drivers side of the subframe
or getting the tensioner bolts in with your right hand means you have to stand facing away from the car
an thats just the begining....lol

Posted 11 years 4 months ago #123471Some of the best times of my car life have been bench building engines.
The reality of lying underneath with engine in situ and trying to remove stubborn sump bolts etc is a tad different.
Reminds me of the Haynes manual jobs of old: find section of job you want to do. Great: only two pages! In the Pub by 12, done and dusted.
Then.......
First paragraph: "First remove engine, gearbox, all four wheels, back axle, headlining, radio, windscreen, doors and absolutely all interior fittings as described in Sections 3, 4, 7, 12, 17, 18, 19 & 23. Remove and clean tiny little electrical connection as shown in Diagram 4. Replacement is the reverse of the dismantling of absolutely all the crap you had to remove, most of which will never go back in place properly. In fact none if it will fit. You will have several parts left over, the fault will not be fixed because we at Haynes don't really know what we're doing anyway and you will be ever so depressed and want to die. We know this because we were too at this point.
The number of your nearest Samaritans is found in Appendix C"
Happy days.
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..
