I did a thread when I mounted mine but don't ask me how to find it.
One important point is that there are two small reinforcements built into the boot lid inner framework for the two front bolts. (At least there were on my early MGF) These can be used to locate the spoiler position and tie it to the structure rather than just having it bolted to the single layer lid.
I'll post some pics in the next little while.....

(follow this up by placing the spoiler on the car to make sure the marks line up with the spoiler bolts)


This pic shows the reinforcement on the bootlid frame.
I don't think it was there by coincidence!


I used fender washers to help spread the load.
The holes in the boot lid were painted before the spoiler went on, and I made up neoprene gaskets where the
spoiler sits against the bool lid and for under the washers. There has been no leakage.
