I think my Sony is a mex3800bt, £30 off eBay, local too so no postage. It's far too good for £30. Just before Xmas halfords were selling an equivalent new model for over £200.

Does it have the ability to connect an iPod?

Is it for sale then?

Yes, just plug your iPod into the standard apple white USB lead and plug the USB into the head unit. You can control the iPod from the stereo itself then and it's being charged at the same time. Mine is not for sale, but they sell for approx £50 on eBay every day. Models with a number of 3100 or higher have a USB socket on, 3000 and lower just has a 3.5m aux input so no charging. Non mex models ( something like CDX-GT ) are similar but none have Bluetooth. The MEX-4000bt is about £105 brand new on eBay, and can have near infinite choice of display colours. All Bluetooth models have a built in mic, but can get a separate mic too, the 4000 is supplied with one in the box.

I don't listen to enough radio to bother with dab, and I've got a stubby aerial and I doubt it'd get any reception. I play most music off a USB stick shoved in the slot on the front.

Do these speakers slot straight in ?

Not straight in, you have to remove the original speakers in their pods by removing the 3 screws. Then peel back the foam strip to reveal the rivets holding the speakers in. Drill these out then screw the new speakers into the pods. Refit pods and door cards. Apprx 20 mins per side.
