There are some things a new owner needs to either do or check that have been done, the list of these Items are the result of the pain and suffering  learning experiences of those that have gone before you, this list is so you know what you need to do so as not to have to learn the hard and costly way.

Does your car have a low coolant alarm already fitted? It not fit one, there are several available.

Check your timing belt, when was it last replaced? You may need to consider it's replacement.

Also check you auxiliary drive belts. If in doubt chuck 'em out.

Familarise your self with the cooling system bleeding procedure there a 3 bleeding points that need to be done in sequence.

Buy a spare coolant filler cap from a reputable source (not shiity ebay rubbish) these caps are prone to failure and you should carry one in the car.

Download the workshop manual for free from this site or purchase a paper copy if you prefer.

Don't listen to know all "experts" down the pub, chances are they've never been near one of our cars, but that won't prevent them from having an opinion!

Do ask questions here and use the hard won experience of the membership here accumulated through the ages.

Do use the search history function of this site.

Do listen to the advice offered here, and draw your own conclusions from what has been offered, but don't ignore it out of hand. You are in the right place for help here. this site is by far the best information resource for these cars.

Do consider getting a OBD Pscan diagnotic tool, you can get one via this site.

Do a thorougher exploration of this site there are hidden gems of knowledge everywhere, just waiting for you to unearth them.

If in doubt...ASK!

When you do ask, please give us the details of your car's age and specification as well as an approximate location of where you are.....this will help us help you!

A pair of protective tail light covers should be fitted if they aren't already ( they cover and protect the tail light wiring and printed circuit boards from the luggage damage in the boot) these can be purchased from the usual suspects.

There will be more that needs to be added to this list, and it will be as it occurs to us.
