MGBs really benefit from some gas flowing in the cylinder head. Plus at least a fast road cam for track use. The plus side of the simple cast iron engine is that it's easy and relativly good value to tune. The MGB register RR shoot out day was really interesting. Aldon got all the cars with a gas flowed head and a recam over 100BHP at the flywheel They got one track day car with 45DCOE up to 130!. It will be in Safey Fast in the MGB newsletter.
