Very nice!

Did you add the front side repeater or was that standard on Australian cars?

Martin it wasn't standard, a previous owner added it.

Will do Leigh, it will be a month or so though, I have ended up doing the timing box for tomorrows meeting.

Well, I finally got the MGB out on the track, we had a Club Day Super Sprint at Baskerville Raceway on the 29th of April. I managed to do a 72 sec Lap which I was pretty pleased with. Please excuse the sound of the tyres rubbing during the Video, not to mention me selecting reverse instead of second when the Midget had the moment in front of me.

What happened at the end of the video? Seemed like you and the Midget caught up with the Sprite again. Thanks for posting, looked like fun.

Will you be rolling the inner lip of the rear arches up to stop the rubbing or is it the inner arches? Not sure if Australian cars are affected but an off-set axle is not uncommon UK Bs with inner rubbing one side and outer rubbing the otherside.

One mod I always intended doing on my modified 1980 MGB GT was a flip up bar on the gearlever surround to prevent accidentally crunching reverse. Now my biggest problem is remembering to be stopped before selecting 1st on the 1966 MGB GT with 3 synchro.

Hi Martin,

Yeah we were catching him, but not soon enough to get past. I have rolled the inner lip, my suspicion is that its the inner arch. I'll be pulling the wheels off when I get a chance and checking it out. Thanks for the flip up bar idea, I may well have to investigate that further.

Thanks for posting the video, that was an encouraging effort first time out.. When you get the back axle tamed the car will carry a lot more speed in the corners. Panhard rods do work, and you can adjust the roll centre with them, usually lowering at the back with a tuned MGB so you can get the power down without the back overtaking the front. I must admit that driving the B on 82 section tyres after the TF with its bottomless pit of sideforce from it's Toyos feels like it's on ice skates for the first few miles so it's worth squeezing the low profiles in.

We had another Club Day yesterday, at Symmons Plains this time. The poor old B needs more power. Had a heap of fun anyway
