You are not far off, the picture that David has posted is only a "light" woodchip paper. it was used a tremendous amount in the 60's 70's and 80's to cover up bad wall surfaces and cracked ceilings, used a great deal by developers refurbishing old properties (on the cheap) and then it was painted Magnolia . It is like a poor mans Artex!!!

Ah, now I can see why one would want to remove it from the premises, good idea.

I agree - I have an aversionb to woodchip too - I used to have it in my bedroom at Mum's and picked the bits of wood out!

Stripping is the best option...

I have taught him how to do gloss much to his disgust, although he is very good at it :omg:
I think stripping wallpaper would send him on his 4 week summer vacation early :(
On a brighter not I have now completed the picture room, my snug, downstairs loo, hall, porch, kitchen minus cupbard doors, although they are sanded and primed ( thanks TB for the tip, that stuff is fab) and the conservatory :yesnod:
Only the main Living room and Dining room to go downstairs :woohoo:
And I am well on target with what I have saved, to buy something I have had my eye on for awhile for Christmas if it is still for sale

Why? Julie does the decorating in our house. I just hand her whatever tool she needs.

If you have any crumbling plaster any unfastened stuff must be taken out, the holes filled, after which primed/sealed. If the floor is porous in any manner then any kind of paste will simply soak thru it and now no longer hold the paper up. If you aren't a professional then call an emergency plumber for it. The thick vinyl paper might be heavier than the maximum different wallpapers.

Why would you call an emergency plumber to help put wallpaper up ? When I did plumbing for a living I was often asked for some unusual things but paper hanging was never requested, even as an emergency
