Posted 12 years 5 months ago #53683I can probably grind a little bit out and then pull the cable hard. The coat hanger thing might not work proper.
Then all the bits of metal I can't sell will go to the scrap yard, including a slightly damaged boot lood

Hi Ben, If it was me they would just put it down to me being a daft old codger!!
Not sure about ginger rage but I am sure someone will come up with a bright idea for a new badge for the likes of old codgers like me and those younger people less fortunate with their memory.
By the way, I don't know if any one else has noticed, but whilst you have been bemoaning your situation the boot has opened by itself, see pic.
Good luck with it.
Pete

It's not mine ha ha wish it was.
I need to recover my ratchet spanners and most of all paul's grommet in there so I'll just grind a little bit off and then pull the cable hard. It might be worth doing a how-to just incase someone actually breaks their lock and has another boot lid on order.

Ben, would it be worth trying to remove the badge and then drilling/cutting a hole above the lock to see if you can release it that way.
If you could, it might be a better place to patch up afterwards.

I did almost exactly the same thing with the Fiat. I was working on something else and decided to oil the bonnet release cable and mechanism. so I disconnected it. I was then ordered in for lunch and looked around the engine bay for any parts/tools that were going to foul, all clear and slammed it! It wasnt until I was ready to start again I realised how much trouble i was in.
It was next to impossible to spring it from the outside, it took hours.
I had a spare key cut for the TF and keep it on my house key ring which is separate from the car keys.

It could well be worth an 'Epic fail' Homer award badge but David is the keeper of the badge tower keys. So, you will have to await his return from paradise I'm afraid.
Here's the fiasco I got mine for - Clickety click.
