The finger has got me into trouble a lot. Once a wrestle style man got out of his car as fast as (horse poo) and tapped on my window. I think IKEA rage had the better of him. I had to press the dead lock I wimped out... Minus man points for me lol. But I couldn't have tackled him even if i had a can on spinach.

Back in the late 70s I ran possibly the scruffiest 1967 Spitfire on the road. I used to flash every Spitfire I saw and nearly always got a wave or a returned flash. Even brand new Spitfire 1500s would respond. In the early eighties I ran a TR7 and always flashed other TR7s and nearly always got a response despite the extra time taken by the pop up headlamps.

When I bought the F I tried to do the same but so few Fs and TFs respond that I no longer bother most of the time

Would you respond if I waved (politely) at you?

I always, grin, then smile, then take of my cap in a cheery wave. We always did it years ago in the Midget and B, also the Alpine, TR2 and any other soft top, Of course, I had hair then and no cap :yesnod:

Here in Edmonton Alberta, thats in Canada for you folks on the other side of the Pond, I get all sorts of strange looks, Honks and waves mainly because it's RHD and also because no one else in Alberta has one. (Rich in Vancouver is the nearest "F" owner and he is around 700 miles away... So Its pretty cool when asked "what's that? to reply, It's an F".....

I wave every time I see another MG (or any British car), but no MG drive has yet returned my wave, then again I'm sure the driver doesn't know that what the heck I'm driving.

When we're out in the Spitfire and wave to other British cars we usually get a wave back, and actually will get a wave back from any classic car owner.

I wondered why you were waving all day on the lakes run. :-? I thought perhaps you had some kinda obsessive compulsive thing going on.
It's nice that they wave back over there in Canada. It almost makes me glad that we colonised the place. :bust:

Leigh, One hand was gripping the door handle for all its life, the other was just flailing around uncontrollablely with the movement of the car :help:

At least in my area, most classic car owners will wave to one another, irrespective of make. Unfortunately the MGF is just too new looking and unknown, no one returns my waves so far.

i try and wave - my two most memorable was to a Jamaican / Caribbean type in an Orange TF - he looked most puzzled... and half waved back as if to say "do I know you...?"
the other time i pulled alongside another F, tooted, waved and smiled and the couple waved back, before dropping down to 3rd and flying off lol

I think its great :)
