At least in my area, most classic car owners will wave to one another, irrespective of make. Unfortunately the MGF is just too new looking and unknown, no one returns my waves so far.
I waved at a Stag (top down) the other day and the driver waved back - made me feel good for at least 10 minutes (well I was feeling good anyway as I was driving the F with the roof off.

Right of course on your 2nd point - this is Mackenzie country and the resting place of Sir Alexander Mackenzie, who was a contemporary of George Vancouver, is just 6 miles down the road (complete with Canadian flag).
