Last time I asked for the guys bank details, got a shocked "why, what for", so I said, "well thats what your after from me".
Not heard from them for a couple of weeks, so hopefully they got the message.
We are registered on the Preference thingy, but if they ring from outside the UK it doesnt work.
Saying that, we check the incoming calls and if we dont recognise the number. let it go to answer phone. Number that just go quite must be 90%,
Complete and utter waste of time, dont know what it is about phone rings, but its like a compulsion to rush over and pick it up before it stops ringing. Just about getting out of that habit now.

The woman said "Hi. I'm from Microsoft technical department"
I said "No your not"
She kind of went quiet for a moment and hung up.
How rude.

Number withheld and international calls - forget it!
The Microsoft one makes me laugh, as if Microsoft know or care if you've got a virus. Tell them you use a Mac.
In all seriousness the number of cold calls is getting ridiculous. I even get texts on my mobile telling me I am owed money for mis-sold PPi or an accident claim.
Someone needs to come up with a safe way to send something back that locks their phone/computer for ever;or preferably explodes in their face!:bust:

get all of the junk mail, find one that has a postage paid envelope for enquiries in it. stuff as much junk mail in it as you can, and mail it all to the company whose envelope it is. if you can get it overweight, even better, as then the Royal mail charge them extra for it :broon:

I hope I never need to phone you from my landline. My number is always withheld. Paranoia is a strong state to break.

The best thing to do with these calls is to put the phone down. Alternatively, if you have nothing on at the time, fake an interest and then keep them occupied as long as you can. When you reveal that you have no interest in buying their services, they'll probably become annoyed, but while they are on the phone to you they won't be ripping off anyone else. It's worth noting that Microsoft says it will never contact a customer unless you have registered a problem with it first.
