The Events list is looking very sad. Not much on anywhere :(
One day events are reasonably easy to organise, but the response is poor. As for W/E & European trips, there seems very little interest.
Give some feedback on what you would be interested in joining. It's a great way of enjoying your MG with like minded people. Read the tips on the "How Tos" for organising an Event.
You have to make an effort & support Event organisers.
Later in the year I will have a go at a run around the Gloucester/Forest of Dean area & next year another trip to France.
As they say support it or lose it :yesnod:

Tbh, after organising an event and getting three responses ( very welcome though and nice to meet and eat with) I must admit to being a bit cautious about repeating the experience of organising.

we drove the run route several times. Sue produced a killer printed and annotated route map, I organised meet point and grub afterwards. A lot of graft, just glad 3 turned up!

So we tried and, well not failed exactly..... but were disappointed at the response quite frankly.
Unless its a big organised event, folk just can't be ar$ed.

To be brutally frank, (and unpopular no doubt) take a break from fitting spoilers, splitters, Vodka bar lighting schemes, LEDs and similar weight adding junk and get out and drive the bloody things.

We're Old People..... And we do.
They belong on the road, not in the garage.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

we tend to agree,we know a couple of people who own mgs so we tend to just go our for a spin with the people we know.same think the bikers do,they tend to have a few mates who turn up on the weekends and they go out.the tunnel run was great last year and we enjoyed that,I think most people just go to shows.
Jan softly softly was the one on here who promoted shows events but no more on that one.

At the moment I think everyone is struggling with the old finances to some extent.
Even well established groups like Border Patrol are getting fewer people along to runs.
Don't let this put you of though, as I continually say, keep it simple to begin with. Try a get together in a pub for a chat. Little acorns etc.

It's all too far north for me, plus I usually work 7 days a week.

I tried to organise a run, got a good turnout of about 15 cars though the weather was foul. Good time had by all, though i had pushed it on here, facebook, and the other place. Am now trying to help organize a monthly meet in the North East for anything MG & Rover related so any support would be appreciated. Dont be put off by small numbers or lack of replies, just keep trying and it will happen, though I think David is right, people dont have as much disposable income, and it is after all a luxury...

I join-in with the Highland MGOC which is a very friendly bunch and welcoming to MGFs & TFs as well as the more 'common' Bs and the 'odd' Midget & even MGA. Turn-outs are small - around 10 - 12 cars - but the stunning scenery, interesting roads and well selected lunch locations make for a happy day out. The differences in cruising speeds are catered for by frequent photo stops. Having a name & logo helps especially when you want to access some interesting places or arrange visits - a recent one was to a garage that specialises in re-mapping, laser alignment etc. Last weekend, rather than MG Live, I was at Tain for the Classic Car Rally with around 500 entrants. As the Highland MGOC we had a 'stand' together and also avoided any judging! We even got a parade (MGA, MGB & MGF) around the arena because we are a club. I think my point after this ramble is a 'name & logo' helps in lots of ways.

Compare the weather with MG Live on the same day!

I have to agree with David that unfortunately a lot of the events organised on here are on a large scale, overnighters etc. I am over in Norfolk but would happily do a day run through the London tunnels, quick pit stop for refreshment and home.

Nice to get some opinions but a one day run out isn't going to break the bank.
As regards to a week in France, it will still be cheaper than any holiday you can organise yourself [bar camping] :yesnod:
Obviously if kids are a consideration then it's a no no.
Dare I suggest that the main obstacle is the other half
Mine doesn't want to know so I take a mate :P
I'm retired so can take hols. any time but I realise that those still working have to choose & budget carefully. Give a thought to setting aside a week & I think you will have a great holiday.
I will put up an event later in the year.

I've noticed a big drop off of numbers on the Border Patrol runs.
