Ozzy was tell ng me about another Lotus that does it quicker.. mind it did cost over 80k

:omg:

Wow I wish I had that kind of cash to get a car that fast... I have seen posts on other forums about people who put other engines in the MGF / TFs that sound a nice idea but I guess costly... I don't think that the Mgf-Reborn car has a mg engine in it... but I guess with mods its possible to go that fast.

But the speed limit is still 70mph...

Ain't it funny, how time slips away...?

Depends what you mean by an MG engine?

Technically my engine is a Scholar/Hellier engine.. Costs about £5,000

The Lotus VPHD engines sell for £5k and are similar power to mine

The KV6 has been done..

Daryl has always been very secretive over his engine... Perhaps we should do a 1/4 mile day?

Or another rolling road day?

They are always great fun.. A chance to meet and chat and dispel the mythical 'pub talk' figures once and for all

Just bought a ZR Turbo. But I guess you're talking about a k series turbo, mines a diesel.

If a jobs worth doing, it's worth overdoing

The slowest car I've driven was an Enzo - it took us 2 days to get 500 miles from Tuscany to Geneva. My TF managed a similar journey in one day when we went to Venice in it last September.

/willy waving ;)

You'd need a lot of power/torque to be under 6 seconds to 60 in an F/TF. I thought Daz's race engine blew up?

It's possible to get nearer 400BHP out of a K series.. But you need very very deep pockets :omg:

The VPHD figure of 188 is banded around quite a lot.. But actually getting 188 at the wheels is something else.. And still won't see sub 6 second figures

That's one of the reasons I forked out over a grand and have the Scholar Evo 2 bottom end..

A lot of the Lotus guys have gone the Evo2 route.. But not many F/TF ers have

As for head work.. There are only a select few (apparently) who really know how to get the best out of a K head.. Dave Andrews (9 month wait) Hellier Performance, Sabre Heads for example

Then there's the cams and ECU..

Not to mention throttle bodies and exhaust set up (loud doesnt mean quick)

'Race engine' building is a black art.. I always laugh when I see people posting about 'it feels quick' or I reckon its got XXX bhp'.

Get it to the rolling road and get a print off.. Or 1/4 mile day

There's a few 'highly modified' F's.. They always post about up rated this and custom that but never post details..

It would seem the 'its a secret' phrase is another way of saying 'its all bull'

Fastest beastie I've ever been in was owned by an old workmate of mine: home built Westfield with a highly tuned 2 litre Pinto engine, everything else drilled/lightened etc: he claimed about 4 secs 0 - 60. After replacing my liver and spleen in their respective positions after a demo I wasn't about to argue.

He'd had a ride in the twin Hyabusa Westie: which he claimed was around 3 secs. Warp speed Captain.

Most memorable acceleration episode for me? Not long after I passed my test: taking the Old Mans Rover P6 auto company car down the A38 to fill it with fuel for him: insurance was so much simpler in the seventies for company cars! After my Sue-courting elderly orange Midget it was a revelation: I also had a Triumph Daytona 500 at the time: which I thought accelerated quickly...... Nooooooooo :nonod:

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

We have a "hand built by spotty work experience youths at Powertrain" on a Friday afternoon with Woolworths tools type engine in our MG.

Happy with it: my tuning days are long behind me. Enjoyable at the time though.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..
