How is your weekend panning out....?
Yesterday, I went tool shopping...omg it's almost as much fun as shoe shopping. You boys are going to have to take my word for that unless you too, like heels...I don't judge.
After lunch I fitted the new TREs then belted out for a topless spin. 20 mins and the weather closed in so the top went up and we dived into a garden centre to check out their roses which was one non-mg related mission. Oh, I also made some final adjustments to my handbrake and I'm now very happy with it. The light doesn't flicker on and it's a very snug fit but the brake doesn't bind.
Today was a trip to the garage for the laser tracking, then I had to cook lunch for visitors. Two vehicles sold over a quiche, YES, I'm THAT good a cook!
The garage pointed out (I hadn't noticed at all) that it is easier to steer in one direction than the other. They said it may be down to a blockage of fluid? Does anyone have any gems of wisdom re PAS problems?
I've reduced some of the gap on the boot lid by adjusting the hinge bolts. I'm hoping this might stop the leak into the boot but suspect it may have something to do with the light seal...time and hellish rain will tell.
I also investigated the spark plugs this pm to see if I could work out why Imelda is such a bitch to start in the wet. I really struggled to see where the leads go but didn't have time to jack the rear.
Tomorrow I'm fitting new bushes to the door hinges as they make a hell of a noise when I go over bumps and sometimes I have to 'lift' the passenger door to close it properly. There is also a problem with the fit of the passenger door handle which needs investigating.
I'm also going to have a look at where the ht leads go. Clean them up and spray a bit of water displacer. Fingers crossed.
I have visitors for Sunday lunch tomorrow as well so if any of you have tips on how to schedule Sunday roast cooking around door hinge bush replacement I'd be happy to hear them!
I have to buy a punch from Halfords as I forgot all about needing a one to do the hinge bushes and I have willing help tomorrow to hold the doors (hence the Sunday lunch). I'm very good at bribery.
So that's my half term weekend... What are you doing?

Posted 11 years 4 weeks ago #132401I've just returned from 2 nights camping at the Paluma Dam, in the hills here in North Queensland Australia. I own a VW T5 Transporter van set up for camping so its a pretty cruisy nights sleep in comfort. (No tents).
Lovely spot with good company from my Military team from Afghanistan and their partners.
Now I reek of wood smoke and need to shower badly, so no MG stuff this weekend apart from playing with the fit of the new stereo a little.
Hope you got some of the car issues sorted, and best wishes from Oz.

If you steering has a bias towards one side it can be adjusted.
I suggest you do a search of EPAS on this forum to gain the collective wisdom that the learned members have previously aired on the matter in these hallowed web pages!
I'm sure once you enlightened as to the mysteries of EPAS, you'll find adjusting the EPAS will be easily within your obviously talented and capable hands.
I look forward to hearing of your progress.

Steering to the left? EPAS fault.- How to cure it.

Posted 11 years 4 weeks ago #132405Today...got up an hour later..clocks back last night...it's now light when the OH takes the doggies out .. I can slob out and read the paper...do emails etc...
We are home checking for the Irish Setter Rescue this morning and then going to dog agility this afternoon...I'll avoid the agility..not being too agile myself and instead continue to refurb a pair of lower adjustable rear arms....got them from a breaker..and they are in good nick..but getting the damn locking nuts off was a pain..tried brute force..always an amusing effort....then blow torch..opportunity for a tool shop yesterday as old one is nf...then eventually my old fall back of cutting down the side of the nuts and using a punch..which always works..and which I try to avoid ..so now I've had to go order some new nuts...fortunately have found a source of M16 fine right and left hand full nuts...why do / did MG use fine metric thread?...
So now everything is apart and while I wait for the nuts to arrive...I'll scrub the other parts with a wire brush and apply some hammerite and Copperslip the threads.so at least I'll be able to adjust them without too much effort...
..and possibly in anticipation of the coming deluge tonight will fit the hard top...I know..what a wimp!..
And after that it's down to the Sussex Oak for a few beers and good company...and a slim chance of being trapped there by the coming storm.....hope springs....!
