Lost all my coolant

Going to Gloucester this morning I became aware of a cloud of steam coming from the rear end & the temp. gauge nearly in the red :-? The low coolant alarm never triggered so I presume there's a problem with the float sticking. ;)
Pulled over & the header tank was empty & coolant dripping from around the rear of the engine.
AA man came & had a quick gander, but soon gave up & said it would have to go home on a B/D truck.
Arranged for Kayleighs lot to come & sort it next week.
Perhaps its getting it's own back for being hammered around Silverstone

It'd be good for those using the LoAlarm to learn of the cause of the failure so as they can keep a look out for theirs.

It'd be good for all of us to learn if the coolant loss was caused by anything that's not amongst the usual suspects.

Sorry about your bad news. These lo alarms seem to be a bit rubbish at doing the job there supposed to

Very sad news, Roger. :hugs:
Hopefully just a leak, but with the temp gauge in the red...

Don't think it's HGF as the oil is clean.
What hoses are at the rear of the engine?
The rate of coolant loss points to something like a split hose.

Looking at the engine from the back of the car did the leak seem to be on the left or right of the engine?

The hose from the thermostat housing to the bottom of the expansion tank is vulnerable.
No. 9 in the diagram. No. 13 is another that fails often. (My last loss was this one.)

Looks like it could be hose no.4 in the diagram.
Looking from the rear, the coolant was dripping from slightly right of center, behind the engine.
