As my Garmin was 7 years old & needed updating I bought a Chinese one for £37 with full Euro. cover. :broon:
However, off on my hols. to the Moselle valley I had not done more than 10 miles out of Dunkirk when it decided to stop speaking to me & some miles later switched off. :-?
Having no decent maps, I ended up doing a tour of Brussels & other detours on the way, which added 90 mins. to my journey time.
Moral - buy a decent sat. nav. that works :yesnod:
Good thing that the "F" cruised at 80/85mph no prob.
And it was 82 degrees here today :P

We bought a Chinese sat nav of eBay last year and haven't had any problems with it.

Only thing is it makes me smile when it asks for settlement instead of city. :slapme:

Still, it's better than the bonnie Tyler one we had.

Now that was rubbish, all it did was say turn around and then every now and then it fell apart!!

Funnily enough, our tom tom took me and my lad through Brussels 2 years ago. Maybe there's room for a conspiracy theory here. Still, I'm glad it happened. Brussels is worth the detour. :yesnod:

Enjoy yourselves out there Forrester. The Mosel valley and the whole of Germany in fact has some beautiful places to visit. :broon:

If you've got a SmartPhone why not use that?

I use my Galaxy Note 2 instead of dedicated SatNav. I have a couple of GPS apps that all work well. Even bunged one on for Asia last time I was visiting family in Malaysia!

Amazingly, as an 'old school' forum, many of our members can actually read a map. :yesnod:

Give it 10 years and it'll be a lost art.

I was going to recommend an App for Android called M8, however, it has just popped up with a message in small print saying something like

Thank you for using M8 over the past months, to ensure that users receive the same level of service and support there will, from 30 June 2014 be a £1.99 monthly charge for using the App.

This App, full of adverts, was free to date and I could have easily missed this 'notification' message and carried on using it and being charged, so I have just uninstalled it.

There is an android version but I'm very happy with this slightly older tech. The guy who supplies them on the 75/ZT forum has a very good reputation, mine got delayed so he threw in a reversing camera for free(still have to connect it up a couple of years on). Here's his website http://www.75andzt.com/
