I disagree Adam. Chris Evans was mega popular when he was last on the telly doing those breakfast shows. He was quite the rebel until he sold his soul to the bbc. I can't think of anyone with a more appropriate good sense of humour that is worthy of replacing Clarkson.
It's a yes from me. :yesnod:

So what qualifies him as an authority on motoring matters?

Well.. I know that he's always been into cars and has his own small collection I believe. Mostly though it's because he can talk the hind leg off a donkey and his humour isn't a million miles from JC's.
The proof's in the pudding though eh. We'll all have to wait and see in the end. I'm optimistic because it could have been a lot worse.

It's Top Gear - you don't need to be an authority on motoring matters, just a 'celeb' who will draw a crowd to a programme that is 'entertainment' rather than a serious motoring programme. I'll stick to the Classic Car Show and for the Love of Cars.

Although the classic car show had excellent content its presentation was awful.
For the love of cars and car sos were much better than anything else imho.
Looking forward to the last 2 episodes of the current topgear then the new series.

Have you read all the terrible reviews of the TGI relaunch? It makes no sense to me to take an existing show (either recent or ancient) and then rehash it trying to pretend it's the same show. Why not just start the 'Chris Evans car show' - oh wait it doesn't have the selling power for Aunty Beeb! I personally find Chris Evans an odeous character... not in the least bit funny (each to his own though) - and although I didnt 'like' Clarkson he was a very enjoyable watch as you knew he woudl say what he thought, not what the Beeb wanted him to say.
The only saving grace for Chris is that he is a genuine car nut, so I hope I am proved wrong to be honest - just I wont be watching!
