Aftermarket alloys for TF 160
Hi all, I picked up a 2004 MG TF 160 in 2024 as a second car for the occasional summer blast down a B-road and I'm in the process of sorting a few mods. I've been looking at new wheels and stumbled across the Rota Slipstream in flat black on Demon Tweeks — they look absolutely spot on for the car but I want to make sure they'll actually fit before I commit £666 to them. The spec I'm looking at is:- Rota Slipstream- 16" diameter- 8J wide- 4x95.25 PCD- ET12 offset I know the standard TF wheels are 7J with ET28-30, so the Rotas are an inch wider and significantly lower offset, which means they'd sit roughly 29mm further out than standard. My main concerns are:1. Will the ET12 offset and 8J width clear the AP Racing calipers on the 160? I know these are notoriously fussy with aftermarket wheels.2. Will the wider fitment sit within the arches without rubbing, particularly at full lock?3. What tyre spec would you recommend on an 8J rim — I was thinking 215/45 R16 front and 225/40 R16 rear? I've searched around and can't find anyone who's run this specific wheel on a TF or MGF. Has anyone tried it or something similar? Any advice gratefully received! Cheers

The only points that I would make is that those 245/45/16 tyres are about 2" greater in diameter than the 215/45/16's, this will increase the gearing by 8% which you don't really want. The choice of tyre isn't great £400 Pirrelli's, Toyo's or cheap and dreadful Chinese. The increased offset will put extra load on what are already marginal wheel bearings. You will significantly increase the scrub radius which will not be pleasurable on bends. However it is your car to do what you will with, an inch of rake may make it look a little odd from a side view.

For info.
The OEM tyre sizes for a TF with 16" wheels is 215/40 16 rear and 195/45 16 front.
Going much bigger diameter could result in rubbing on the arches.
