How about a butterfly valve in each pipe. You could even have actuators and a selector on the dashboard to select the noise level. You know how much you like buttons and actuators.
I thought of the butterfly but not the actuator, but couldn't get my head round how to seal the spindle as it gets really hot so rubber is out of it
