Hmmm but the instructions say use a rubber malet, they aren't any fun
suppose a lump hammer with a bit of rag wrapped round it will do
The grip bit that goes between the tyre and rim is really rather chunky so it looks like they will stay put

BUT!! I did manage the odd pic, and to be totally honest they do go on quite easy
However I was amazed how hard you have to hit it and thats with all the air out of the tyre and I was using a proper hammer with a bit of rag, so if you were using a rubber malet it might take for ever
The instruction are good and the tips sound, the main one being as you hit around till it meets mark and then cut 3mm shorter, you need the gap to fit the cover if you try to match them up perfectly the cover won't go on and the rest of the alloygator may bulge in places
I'll get the pics up later

Jack the wheel up that your doing, let the air out of the tyre
Before:
You can see how much you need to hammer in
First cut between the size wheel marker you have i.e. in my case 18" rims so I had to cut half way to the 19" marker, this is done for two reasons 1, so you have more than enough and 2 so that your final cut will be on the mm gauge at the other end
start hammering it in opposite to the valve and work your way anti clock wise, when you get towards the end mark where they over lap, this will show on the mm section before cutting deduct 3mm (3mm shorter not 3mm towards the zero on the gauge) from where you marked
Hammer in the rest and give the whole outside a final knocking round, you can hear when it's hit home as the tone changes, then glue the cover on, the cover has a small raised ridge which fits in the gap
from the top you can see they stick out just enough to stop damage, lastly pump your tyre up again

Total time to do it about an hour an a half, the only reason it took that long was because of the slow little tyre pump

Are they reuseable? As the tyre is the only thing holding it in place what happens when a company removes the tyre to fit a new one? Will they spend the time repositioning it?
