They have worn very well having covered 27,000 miles. Should I just aim to replace them with Continentals of the same spec or are there other suitable makes?
I thought i would update this thread and close it for Tonyb.
After taking the advice about suitable tyres for his 8 year old 27000 mile TF to replace the Continentals, he has now fitted four TOYO PROXIES T1-Rs at £69 each for fronts and £74 each for rears, inclusive of valves and balancing.
The Nexen 2000s do not make the 205/50 for the rears and the Falken 452s are no longer made.
Tonyb has said that the car drives well and there is NO tyre noise, and it feels so much better - Tony wishes to thank everyone for their advice .
The tyre specialist said there is currently a shortage of tyres and prices are destinded to be hiked up again!!!!!!

It's like when I ask for Nexen 3000s in 16" at my local supplier - 'You can't get them anymore.'
Actually means - 'I can't get them at a good enough price to turn a nice profit anymore.'

95 octane is currently $1.33/litre and climbing fast!
We will be paying another .05 carbon tax in a couple of months
as well as the usual increases.
Across the border in the US gas prices are about 30% less.......
and they buy much of their oil from us!
