Have to say I started off thinking that I would just get on without straps but eventually it starts driving you crazy every time you forget to move the second bar back. :angry:

Have to say the straps work a treat. Infact, I forgot I'd fitted them until this thread reminded me :lol:

Go on - spoil yourself and get the OEM straps for £13.49 ;)

Just wondering how you got on with just moving the 2nd bar backwards?

David thanks for advice ,seems a sound idear advert says MG Rover fitted them to later models .Any way I have bought some ,any thing for a easy live RON.

Yippeeee!!!! It works!!! I pushed the 2nd bar gently back while lowering the hood and lo and behold, the hood went down ever so gently.
I tried it a few times and every single time, it went fully down effortlessly.
