Ball Joint Socket
I borrowed one last time I did the front upper ball joint, but I have been meaning to get my own since I did the rears.
It is a 1/2" drive 1 - 13/16" socket and is a perfect fit, in depth as well as size, for the ball joints on the F/TF.
It costs £14.99, but I think it is a valuable addition to your tool kit for removing ball joints, along with a 12V impact driver.
Spookily enough (and I didn't notice this until I got home) the label actually says Ball Joint Socket.

I have a 1 15/16" socket that I bought specifically to use on the crank pulley of MG B-Series engines.
(Of which I no longer own any)
Is it the same size-Of Course Not! :rant:

Draper tool HTD-AF 1 13/16 sourced from fleebay some years ago.
The bag on the right was the packing .... Had a big laughter when I pulled it out of my letter box.

no worries with that cheap 12V impact drivers. I own one myself.
They are quite secure and don't hurt due to their design. They only do a very few short but heavy kicks. Easy to hold with one hand only.

The impact wrench that I have just spins up to speed and gives a short thwack. Doesn't feel as though it is ever in danger of damaging anything really and was a quick and easy solution to the problem. Pete has the same wrench and uses his successfully too.

They are for sure not designed for professional long term heavy use :whistle:
Also to slow for a quick access on a load of screws, and not any torque restriction while tightening bolts.
So after "on" comes ... "off" :nonod:
Had to DIY repair my 12V thingy already after the first 8 wheel bolts. It stopped working cause a faston 6.3 connector had come loose inside at the power switch. Cheap and thin brass connectors :rant:
However it works for this ball joints and aswell for the heavy load crank nut.
Didn't try with the wheel hub screw, though.
