MG Quiz

Correct, I was looking for Princess when I said 1964. The actual cars never got an MG badge on the grille despite the brochure picture and were seen as too expensive hence only selling in very small numbers for less than a year. For some reason the Vanden Plas 3L had not sold well in the USA hence the decision to badge the small VDP Princess as MG. These days the VDP models are the most sought after of the 1100/1300 range.

Continuing the Jubilee weekend theme,

This Jubilee special is a one off model previously featured in the MG Quiz and was created to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee and also the 1.5 millionth MG ever built.
The model was a TF 160 and was painted in the new monogram Supertallic Jubilee Gold colour. The colour is not unique, however this particular model had special trim including a gold ingot "160" badge, crown decals for the wheel centres, a jubilee monogram on the head restraints and inscribed "The 1.5 millionth MG" above each side air intake.

So you can recognise it in the future the registration is MG 02 OTF and the chassis number is :- SARRDLBPC2D604127. It was the 4027th TF built.

The new two part question is;

1) Name the other special edition produced in the same Queen's Jubilee year?

It was available in just five colour combinations

2) What colour hood would you have received with the Solar red version?

5 colour combinations were available as follows:

Well I'm sorry Hari, but someone is going to have to jump on your schoolboy error of not renaming the picture used

john thornley inspects new mgt-type 1936 ;)

It might be un-gentlemanly of me and caddish to take advantage; but I'm bored and it's either a choice of coming up with a quiz question or going and doing the ironing !!

It is indeed.
The 18/80 Mk II pictured was supplied to him. He was a family friend of Cecil Kimber and did a lot of work on the early MG adverts. Not to mention many MG artworks.
He also designed the original Jaguar mascot and the Icarus mascot for Bentley.

Over to you Martin

Going back to the Jubilee theme, there was a special Jubilee MGB GT.

Name the manufacturer of the rims used on the Jubilee and for extra kudos, the other MGB GT on which these wheels were used and the colour scheme used on the Jubilee's wheels.

The 1975 MGB GT Jubilee was fitted with Dunlop composite Steel / Alloy wheels which were originally developed for the MGB GT V8.

The Dunlop V8 wheel is constructed from an aluminium disk in the centre of the wheel, which is riveted onto a chromed steel rim. They were fitted as standard equipment onto factory original V8 cars

For the Jubilee edition they were painted Black and Gold.

The long Jubilee weekend continues now with another Jubilee related question.

A subtle MG change occurred in the year Queen Elizabeth's reign commenced. In the year of her 'Tin' Jubilee another subtle MG change took place.

The new question is simple, name the changes?
