2/. could somebody tell me what i should be connecting and where to in the following ( figure 2)?
It's a thermostat for the heating - lcd with battery backup.
I (think I) know I need a live, a switched live, and a neutral but so far I've gone through three fuses and several loud bangs. :coat:

That's a relief, because I had to replace the fuel gauge on mine and prior to swapping the fuel gauge stayed up but now it drops. i thought I might have broken it.

It's only battery back up. It's supposed to run off the mains.
I can get it to switch the pump on and off with the thermostat and display from the battery. Take the batteries out and it stops working.

Psymon was correct sorry I was slow typing.
Your data sheet says the thermostat is battery powered NOT mains

As PDQ says, live to 3 and 1 goes to the switched item ie the pump/boiler/heat source.

Posted 12 years 11 months ago #33295Now if i put an ohmeter across 3 and 2 and rotate the dial I get an on /off when the thermostat clicks.
If I put the ohmeter across 3 and 1 and rotate, I get nothing.

NO means Normally Open and is Number 1 on your diagram.
NC means Normally Closed and is number 2 in your diagram. Nothing is connected to this one.
