I was going to get an MR2. But they lack space. Looked at MX-5's in my price range, which was 4 grand at the time. But I didn't see anything that I really fancied.
I bought my daughter an MGF in 2008, for Christmas. It had a unique paint job. Click here to see it. So, I wasn't unfamilair with the marque. Personally, I quite liked that it was a rapid vvc, which she soon bent around a roundabout railing, due to lack of rwd experience. It was probably made by the Longbridge 'Green shift' that Rayb worked on. Just kidding Ray. It's quite encouraging to see a fellow ex Longbridge worker who also owns one of our cars. Well played.
Anyway, I saw a nice looking 2002 steppy which had terrible internet reviews and it was going for a song. It had been well looked after by a very nice man and it had an lpg conversion fitted (check my photo album). Therefore, it's cheaper on fuel costs. Feel free to click the 'fuelly' link in my sig, if you haven't already. I had a fiat coupe before this car. That was a real beast of a car, incredibly fast and incredibly thirsty.
It took me a couple of days to get used to driving a Sports automatic car. I didn't think that I would like not changing gear at first. But, now I love it. It's bliss doing nothing but stop and go. However much I loved the car, I was cold on my shoulders whilst driving it. So, I blessed the community with my cursed inventiveness (always had it) and made the airscarf mod. Now we can all have the roof down all year long, wearing only light clothing, because cold is no longer an issue.
Done almost 7k miles to date, 400 with the roof up.

in 2007 changed jobs and i needed a car, don't no why but it had to be a green or silver F,the wife and kids think its mid life crisis (but i dont think iv hit that yet,but any way) i looked at a few mgs that were dogs until the mother inlaw saw this green MG by the road side with a for sale sign in the window and said give them a ring its the colour you want buy it, so guess what, i phoned the number there and then, test drove and bought it.
Been brilliant, she,s had her niggles but i just blame the mother inlaw.
Decided to change her for a tf in october but cant find something like her at the moment but im still looking at a change in the near future but must be night fire red if pos
todds.

I had avoided our local British Car show for years as I knew it would get me hooked again, and sure enough, the year that I went I ended up buying another Magnette, this time a 1955 ZA. My family never really enjoyed riding in the old Magnette (Particularly after I supercharged it!) so I thought, "The heck with them I'm getting a 2 seater". The MGF was just coming eligible for import into Canada so I took the plunge and bought one off E-Bay.
I love my MGF, in spite of (or maybe because of) all the work I have done on the car, and plan to keep it for a long time.
Cheers,
Rich

My ex started using the monty estate, the van died, the monty turbo got sold and I needed a cheap car so found a metro which happened to be a 1.3 MG.
Then I met my new wife who liked the Alfa convertables, I mentioned the MGF as an alternative and the seed was sown.
When then became a couple, the metty died so I got a even cheaper MG monty EFi but still fanced a really quick hatch so ended up getting a maestro and getting it converted to T16. We then bought a second MG maestro non runner that we broke. Mrs TC need to learn to drive so we got a 1.6 MG maestro, sold that, got another cheap maestro (£30 for the remain tax), drove and then broke that, a cheapish (£325) maestro diesel followed and then got broke. The T16 was a project and remain so until today.
Durring this peroid I was given a V6 espace that was then traded in for a Range Rover that eventually got sold for scrap and I ended up inheriting my mums R100. By now Mrs TC was driving and starting a job which she needed a car for, we were going to get her a car but she suggested that I deserved a nice car and she could have the R100, was looking at scoobies but one look at my MGZS in autotrader and a deal was done. Mrs TC wore the R100 into the ground and as she liked my ZS but wanted something smaller she decided to get a MGZR.
Then about 2 years ago we were talking and the MGF idea came up, much searching began and I found ours on eBay and only 15 miles from here, resonable price, low mileage, right model and right colour. We had for several years gone away for a touring holiday at the whitsun half term and that year we had a fantastic tour around Scotland. Unfortunatly the next MOT was a bit of a nightmare so we missed Scotland and ended up in Devon and Cornwall in the ZS.
Right now the F is untaxed as we currnetly have the 2 zeds and my daughters R100 to fund but she'll be back on the road in April ready for the summer.

The rest as they say is history, speaking of which, the seed for the idea was all Dave's brothers fault, click here to see what encouraged others in to an F/TF

I had promised myself a convertible for years, 3 1/2 years ago I was driving a Vectra that I hated, I sold my horse and along came BCAWW, she was the first one I looked at off autotrader I fell in love with the colour and had to have her but she looks nothing like she did when I first got her.
Since then met loads of peeps through her and made many friends
Last year along came Monty the complete opposite of what I wanted.... I wanted an old white F I could park on Asda carpark and not worry about it getting dinged. Whilst I was searching I came across a Typhoon TF 160 non runner near Harlow on ebay, owner didnt have a clue what was wrong :nonod:, so I made her an offer we went down with trailer and picked him up... Turned out his timing belt had let go, one broke piston and 3 damaged valves... but now he is up and running and has come over to the darkside but there is still plenty to do to get him upto "Tracys spec".
