why did you buy a mg
Started driving round England with SHMBO in my old company car - a Vauxhall Omega. Spotted a really nice MGF when in Stratford-upon-Avon 2 years ago and we decided that a 2 seater would be a good idea.
As we wanted a car for touring the luggage space was important so my wife could take all the 'essential' clothes etc on our trips and the mid engine was a big selling point for me.
Bought our flame red Mk1 18 months ago for £1K, which was substantially under our £4K budget. I have subsequently spent another £2K on the car, which is starting to look really good :yesnod:
This was our first 2 seater and OMG what a great move. We have seen a large part of UK and my son and I had great time in Scotland with some of the great people I have the pleasure of chating with on this awesome site. Also, my son and I both work on the car so it's created a lot of great father/son time :yesnod:
Oh and BTW - it's bloody brilliant fun to drive :woohoo:

I almost shed a tear then Laz. Your story really touched me. You could have got that for £900. :lol:Laz1957 wrote: Also, my son and I both work on the car so it's created a lot of great father/son time :yesnod:
No really, I know what you're saying about father and son time. I always used to argue with my lad, who just turned 22. Then we went around europe in the TF and now we argue twice as much.

Deciding I wanted a "toy" to play with I bought a Porsche 924, I tinkered with it & had it re painted & within a week, wrapped it around a lamp post. So I then bought a Porsche 944 which I had for 5 years. I sold it due to needing some cash to take my wife away as she has been ill but I sold it on the understanding I could have another "toy".
After looking after my sisters MX5 for around 10 months while she was working in Australia I just had to have a convertible & was looking for a MX5 when I saw a Volcano Orange MGF mpi, it was a bit rough but I loved the colour so much I just had to have one. A few weeks later I found a cracking Volcano Orange VVC within budget on eBay & bought it unseen from Colchester.
I still have it & still love it but running out of things to do to it now!
