Who buys an MGF/TF......

There appear to be three main groups;

1) MG enthusiasts where the F/TF is an addition to a long line of MG's owned by them. :yesnod:

2) People who wanted a British 2 seater convertible from an early age who then become MG enthusiasts. :woohoo:

3) Fashion victims, who know nothing about cars or maintaining them and don't wave back in acknowledgement to other F/TFers but instead look at you like you just defecated in their front garden

 There must be other groups I've missed.......

In my case I would say #1 Enthusiast where my MGF is one of a long line of MGs owned by me.

My wife would say #4 Nut cases who aren't sensible enough to buy a normal car.

To which I would say "I resemble that remark! :silly:

  Hmmmm, actually I think your wife may have a valid point Rich.

Judging by some of the car histories seen on here..... a very valid point :bust:

Erratta

Who buys an MGF/TF......

As above plus

4) Nut cases who aren't sensible enough to buy a normal car ...............who then become MG enthusiasts. :woohoo:

There's a pattern developing here.

I suffer from a wallet debillitating disease that has been diagnosed as Octagonomania where by one's spinal column discs are known to become 8 sided, and one suffers pain in various body parts when forced to spend drive anything other than an MG. I think this might be a severe case of #1 option.

Same as Tracy, we were in the market for a convertible roadster - no brand loyalty, no mid-life crisis, and no common sense! Just went for what appeared to be the tidiest example within our budget, in the nicest colour we could find :)

I'm definitely #2. I have wanted a MG since I was about 8, when they were still available new here in Canada. I had to wait until I was 30 to buy first MGB, which is just about the time I learned of the MGF.

No 2 here - a bit like Jamie but with the mid life crisis thrown in for good measure

I wanted a car that would reduce my fuel bill, was a roadster and I felt that as this one sported an lpg conversion it was good value for it's reasonably low price.
