I have searched the site, but cannot find the original reference to this top tip. Who ever posted it in the depths of a thread, thank you.

Last night, having just fitted a new rear screen I followed the advice which was to place a sheet of cling film (food wrap) over the rear screen, matter of a few seconds.

This morning the rear screen look pretty much like this

Pull the cling film off - result - Perfectly clear rear screen :woohoo: in the flick of a wrist.

No waiting, scraping, spraying with a can of defroster, just get in and drive off ;)

Interesting tip. Glass or plastic new rear screen Paul?

My defroster mod worked perfectly this morning, even had the roof down at minus -6c on the way to work. But, I'm about to try this mod as well, just for scientific purposes.

could not get into the astra today :(

when you open the door the window drops down so you can open the door (advantage of this is that you get a good seal and no water leaks like the f and tf) any way the window had frozen solid and refused to drop till defrosted

wifes door f opend ok but window froze solid (would not go down )

you win some and lose some

mad about cars and bikes :)
if it aint broke dont fix it :)

Plastic rear screen Leigh.

When I unrolled the cling film and put it near the screen it was attracted and stuck on no problem. Don't know what would happen if it rained overnight, but I did push the cling film under the overlap around the screen, so I reckon it would probably stay in place.

In the morning just lift off - Taaa daaah

I'm not disputing you Paul, but it seems that we all really hope this tip works. You can see where it's starting to freeze at the top of the roof already.

I really want it to work, is my point. I have to pull my pipe (there now I've said it) out of the seat and point it at the back screen in the mornings. It's a minor thing that takes a whole 3 seconds. When it's minus freezing point every second counts ;) .
