Posted 12 years 4 months ago #58470My splitter..
Yes YP I do have Speed bumps, but luckily the road is being dug up by NPower, and the ones put in by our local numpty will be ripped out, and Madam will be able to look like a sports car again, rather than an MGF on stilts :woohoo:

That sounds like a really good idea :yesnod:
Rich I think it looks "Mean" I am going to give it a go anyway ..
As Maggie said how easy would it be to round one off
Thinking about it you could sit the unfitted trophy one on it and draw round giving you a perfect template then cut round, but..
What would you trim it off with ?
How would you smooth it off ?
Would it weaken the splitter ?

Posted 12 years 4 months ago #58490I was thinking of fitting one to the Trophy, but..... speed bumps are few just here
but many of the roads are two ruts with grass between, hmmmm.

Posted 12 years 4 months ago #58494Which was my concern ..
Also maybe the reason they are fitted forward, is that even if the central fixing point if cut down the Trophy under lip does not go back far enough to enable fitting
So TB says
If i wanted to eliminate the curve in and notch, i would self tap screw some Mesh across the gap and Fibre glass and fill. that way you can increase the strength..
That to me seems to be the answer :yesnod:

mgf Trophy front bumper and then plywood splitter...
if its good enough for the Elise GT1 and Lotus 2-11 GT4 (both from factory with plywood splitters!) then its good enough for the MG...
made one for a friends exige that was about 60mm longer all round than the stock one, looked great...
just used marine grade plywood, and lots of sanding
